I design large-scale nationwide mortgage systems that produce mortgage documents. As you can plainly see in numerous news reports, the contagion that now affects our national economy started in the housing industry and has metastasized like a cancer throughout the entire financial community.
All around me, financial companies are laying off thousands, if not tens of thousands of workers. In many cases, the downsizing is the result of economic difficulty, in others it is due to a merger or acquisition, and yet in others, people are losing their job for the sole reason that the company’s executives need to reduce costs to insure their firm's survival, stay employed or earn their sometimes outrageous bonuses.
